Nintendo to Develop Smartphone Games Featuring Nintendo Characters

Well it’s about time! Nintendo will be teaming up with Japanese mobile developer DeNA to develop smartphone games featuring Nintendo IP. They will also be developing a new multimedia service that will replace Club Nintendo and work across Nintendo devices, smartphones, tablets, and computers. Full story here.

Adrift: A Game that should be on your Radar

Adrift, from developer Three One Zero, is a beautiful upcoming game that has you play an astronaut drifting through the wreckage of a spacecraft and trying to figure out what happened. The developers are dubbing their game an “FPX,” or First-Person Experience, which they hope will become a new genre. All of their future games will be FPXs as well. As a fan of games like Dear Esther, I am really excited for this. If there is a reason to get an Oculus Rift, it’ll be this game.

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Remakes Announced for 3DS

It’s official! Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire are getting remade on 3DS as Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Check out the deets at GameSpot.

It’s about time! Following in line with previous remakes–FireRed/LeafGreen, HeartGold/SoulSilver–Game Freak is finally remaking my favorite Pokemon games. I’m so excited right now I can’t even.

Pokemon X/Y Review

I finally did it. After receiving Pokemon Y from my host family in Japan, having to buy a Japanese 3DS because the 3DS is region-locked, and a failed attempt at playing the game in Japanese, I beat it. I’ve been playing Pokemon since Gold/Silver when I was in 3rd grade, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. Pokemon is still my favorite video game franchise. Needless to say, each new game holds a special place in my heart. So let’s get right into it!
